Benjamin Ewing is a multidisciplinary American artist originally from Rochester, Minnesota. He currently operates out of his studio located in Portland, Oregon. With a background in editorial photography & print design, he aims to converge visual principles within the context of contemporary art. Ewing tackles concepts of visual hierarchy and composition, producing a representation of the eye's path across imagery as a whole. The dimensions and mass of each work dictate the space in which the lines can operate, allowing density to express itself influx spectrum.
Ewing combines various textures to enhance the perception of depth, ambient colour and movement in minimal form.
The Audo provided new colour palettes for Ewing to fold into these concepts, producing the first of its kind - a dissent from his almost exclusively black and white work.
Fend, 2019, utilises magenta and violet. Monochromatic in nature, the work reads as black from a distance and saturates upon approach.
